A styled shelf makes a small room look more finished. You do not need many objects, only a few arranged with a bit of space around each.
Why this works
Shelves look best when they mix books, objects, and empty space. Varying height and orientation keeps the eye moving and prevents a wall of sameness.
What you’ll need
Materials at a glance: Books in different sizes; Small plant or vase; Decorative object or frame; Basket. Plan on about 10 min and a budget of free. The full materials list and numbered steps are in the project card below.
How to do it
Stack some books horizontally and others vertically, place a small object on top of a stack, and add one plant or vase. Leave about a third of each shelf empty to give the display room to breathe.
Styling tips
- Group objects in threes.
- Mix tall, medium, and short items.
- Use a basket to hold things you do not want to display.
